Doncaster Mile 2012 – First Acceptances

March 13th, 2012

The Doncaster Mile is set to run at Royal Randwick Racecourse on April 21, 2012, and today the final acceptances were released for the race.

87 horses accepted to be part of the 2012 Doncaster Mile, including Peter Moody’s King’s Rose.

King’s Rose has won eight of her 18 race starts and has earned close to $1 million in prize money.

The Redoute’s Choice mare won the Group 2 Stock Stakes and the Group 2 Memsie Stakes last preparation, as well as finishing a close second in both the Group 1 Toorak Handicap and Group 1 Emirates Stakes.

King’s Rose finished eighth in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap last start and will be looking to go into the 2012 Doncaster Mile third-up.

Guy Walter’s Hood is also part of the 2012 Doncaster Mile first acceptances.

Hood won his last start in the Listed Magnet Mart National Sprint on March 11, 2012.

Walter is unsure where next to send the five-year-old Hood, who has won five of his 19 race starts.

“I’m not 100 per cent sure where we’ll go with him now,” Walter said yesterday.

“We’ll pay up on Tuesday (today) for the Doncaster.

“Whether he’s up to that and whether he gets a mile is still a question, but I think there is more nice wins in store for him.

“This is a pretty good horse when he gets things together.

“I think he’s starting to build a nice record.”

Absolutely, Bold Glance, Galah, Mosheen, Pinker Pinker, Shoot Out and More Joyous are also included in the 2012 Doncaster Mile first acceptances.
