Diademe Has 2013 Doncaster Mile Firmly In Her Sights

March 6th, 2013

Trainer Murray Baker is looking towards a run in the Doncaster Mile on April 20, 2013, with his mare Diademe.

Diademe has won four of her eight race starts and has earned more than $100,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.

The four-year-old won her last start in the Group 3 Westbury Classic at Ellerslie today and is now looking to travel over the Tasman to run in Australia’s Doncaster Mile.

“I thought she’d go very close today at the weights. She’s a quality filly,” Baker said.

Diademe did in fact “go close”, winning the race by almost two lengths ahead of her closest rival.

While Baker isn’t certain about a start in the 2013 Doncaster Mile.

“She’s still in the Doncaster but she’d have to run well in the next couple to think about that,” he said.

“But she’s got a bit of class and she’s very strong.

“Probably Te Aroha (in New Zealand) looks a good option for her before then.

“What she’s done on one prep last year was huge and this is a good start to her second prep.”

Diademe has consistently performed at the top level this preparation, placing in the Group 2 Cal Isuzu Stakes and the Group 2 Rich Hill Mile.
