Securing three wins and a further five minor places over his 21 competitive starts so far, Real Impact has been kept to light preparations since first appearing on course in 2010; racing just four times over three campaigns in 2014.

Stamping his claims as one of the world’s standout middle-distance runners when overcoming a talented field in the Group 2 Hanshin Cup (1408m) most recently on December 27th, McDonald’s racing manager David Raphael told AAP his client is thrilled to have picked up the ride on Real Impact as is brimming with excitement ahead of the 2015 Doncaster Mile.

“James is very excited to be riding Real Impact – he is one of the best horses going around in Japan and you only have to go through his form to realise this is one serious racehorse,” Raphael said.

The winner of the 2011 edition of the Group 1 Yasuda Kinen (1608m), Real Impact has rarely looked like finishing out of the top five runners in any given race over the years since.

Charging home to finish a close second to Danon Shark in the Group 3 Fuji Stakes (1609m) at the beginning his 2013 summer preparation, the Deep Impact entire was unlucky to be blocked for a run and tenth in the Group 1 Mile Championship (1600m), but responded in the best way possible when taking out the Hanshin Cup for the first time.

Japanese raiders have experienced exceptional success in Australia over recent seasons, including the 2014 edition of the Autumn Carnival and The Championships.

Running on for a credible sixth in the 2014 Doncaster Mile, talented mare Hana’s Goal blew her competition away only two weeks later when finding the line in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) by more than a length.

Leading online bookie is currently offering the best early odds on the 2015 Doncaster Mile, for which Real Impact is rated a generous $11 chance for success.
