The Chris Waller-trained Winx was undoubtedly the standout of the recent Spring Carnival and remains outright $8 favourite in early 2016 Doncaster Mile betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Posting an impressive nine wins and three minors through only fifteen career starts so far, Winx was unlucky not to break through for a maiden win at the highest level through a strong autumn campaign in 2015 but a trip north was warranted when she delivered a commanding defeat to a notable field in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m).

Returning in spring for success in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m), the daughter of Street Cry repeated the dose in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) before delivering some of the world’s best middle distance horses a massive blow in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m).

Winx has been confirmed to target the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) on Day 2 of The Championships but may use the Doncaster Mile as her final competitive point of call prior.

Three-year-old Press Statement’s dominance over a mile continued in spring and the colt remains second favourite in early 2016 Doncaster Mile betting markets as a result at generous $9 odds.

Debuting to racing for two strong wins in minor Sydney sprints in the late autumn of 2015, the choice to head north was also warranted for the son of Hinchinbrook when he comfortably won the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) on June 6th.

Returning in spring for second in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m), Press Statement failed to fire when fifth in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) but responded in the best way possible with consecutive wins in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) and Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

The colt has trialled well in the lead-up to autumn was trainer Chris Waller is yet to settle on a path this time.

One of the standouts for in-form trainer Ciaron Maher in spring, Azkadellia has proven she is more than up to the standard of Group 1 racing and remains $11 third-favourite in Doncaster Mile betting markets.

Finishing outside the first three only once in nine career starts, the Shinko King mare won a Cranbourne minor over 1400m by close to three lengths on October 11th; progressing to second in the Group 3 G1X.com.au Stakes (1600m) before producing a career-best performance to date to finish third in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m).

2015 Doncaster Mile champion Kermadec represents terrific value at a quote of $13 for success in April while Disposition is also worth consideration at Doncaster Mile odds of $15.
