Kermadec won the 2015 edition of the Doncaster Mile for Chris Waller as a three-year-old, and is one of an impressive 30-strong list included in nominations by the leading Sydney trainer this year.

Kermadec was a strong and consistent performer for Waller throughout the entire 2015 racing calendar, and returned in February for a credible fourth in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) before placing third amongst talented company in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m).

Luckless in running when fourth in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m), the Teofilo entire proved he was up to the class of open company when savaging the line for third in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) leading into his resounding win in the Doncaster Mile.

Resuming in spring for fifth in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m), Kermadec ran third in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) before returning to winning form in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) on September 19th before placing fourth in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) on three weeks later.

While unable to make anything of an impact in the Cox Plate (2040m), Kermadec will undoubtedly lead the charge for Waller in the 2016 Doncaster Mile.

A number of talented milers stamped themselves as serious contenders through the recent Spring Carnival and have been included in 2016 Doncaster Mile nominations, including Turn Me Loose, Bow Creek and Sons Of John.

A particularly exciting prospect for leading Kiwi trainer Murray Baker, Turn Me Loose immediately stamped himself as one to watch upon debuting to racing in 2014 and capped his maiden preparation with success in the Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas (1600m) in November.

Resuming in 2015 for sixth in the Group 1 Makfi Challenge Stakes (1400m), the Iffraaj gelding debuted in Australia for second in the Listed Paris Lane Stakes (1400m) before taking out the Listed Seymour Cup (1600m) a fortnight later.

Continuing his winning form through the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m), Turn Me Loose returned to New Zealand after taking out the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) on November 7th.

A strong and consistent performer for the Godolphin Australia operation, Bow Creek will be set for the 2016 Doncaster Mile in only his second racing preparation.

Debuting in Australia for second in the Crystal Mile, the Shamardal entire was unable to overcome a slow start when 12th in the Emirates Stakes.

Sons Of John is the undisputed stable start for Hawkesbury-based trainer Jason Attard and produced a number of impressive results in 2015.

Capping a strong autumn preparation with success sin the Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m), the Oratorio gelding returned in spring for an agonizingly-close second to Winx in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) before producing a career-best effort to finish third in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m).

While unable to make an impact in his next two starts, Sons Of John will relish the Sydney Autumn Carnival conditions.
