Classy mare Winx remains clear and justifiable $1.90 favourite in 2016 Doncaster Mile betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of stable mate Kermadec ($8) and Azkadellia ($9).

Will Winx justify favouritism and post another Group 1 triumph in the Doncaster Mile or will one of her talented rivals claim a huge upset on Day 1 of The Championships?

Winx ($1.90)

Winx is undoubtedly the headline act at Royal Randwick on Saturday and will be very hard to beat in the 2016 Doncaster Mile, particularly under the conditions of the feature race. Capping a strong autumn and winter campaign with a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) last year, the Street Cry mare resumed in spring for success in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) before taking out each of the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) and Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m). Returning this time for another comfortable win in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m), Winx is aiming for a third-consecutive Group 1 win on Saturday having taken out each of the Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) and George Ryder Stakes (1500m) most recently.

Kermadec ($8)

2015 Doncaster Mile champion Kermadec has returned to impressive form this time and is positioned well in barrier 3 to lay a great account for himself in his title defence on Saturday. Resuming in spring for fifth in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m), Kermadec ran on for second in the talent-rich Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) before returning to winning form in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) on September 19th most notably. Having placed third in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) and second in the George Ryder Stakes this time, Kermadec is sure to be boosted by last-start hoop Zac Purton in the Doncaster Mile.

Volkstok’N’Barrell ($21)

Kiwi raider Volkstok’N’Barrell has returned to racing in slick form this time and arguably offers punters the best value for money in 2016 Doncaster Mile betting markets at $21 odds for success or $5 to finish in the first three. Charging home to win the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) upon debuting in Australia last autumn, the Tavistock entire was unable to make much of an impact through a disappointing Spring Carnival campaign and returned to New Zealand. Having placed sixth in the Group 1 NRM Sprint (1400m) first-up this time, Volkstok’N’Barrell has since taken out each of the Group 1 Hanui Farm Classic (1600m) and Group 1 New Zealand Stakes (2000m).
